Guidelines for quality management systems for computer software engineering.

Abstract
This International Standard specifies requirements for a quality management system in which an organization:

  • needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products that meet customer and applicable regulatory requirements; and
  • aims to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable regulatory requirements.

The application of this International Standard is appropriate to software that is:

  • part of a commercial contract with another organization;
  • a product available for a market sector;
  • used to support the processes of an organization;
  • embedded in a hardware product; or
  • related to software services.
